in this project we were tasked with finding a problem the demographic of our thesis project may face and find a solution. As my Thesis project is a live/work art studio I decided to look into how painters and other 2 dimensional artists work.
In my research, I found that Easels have remained relatively unchanged since their boost in popularity around the 13th century. Back in these days, things like the human form and ergonomics weren't always considered in the design, even if they were, nowadays ergonimics advanced and changes with the new needs of the current state of human bodies.
When designing this ergonomic easel, I had to keep in mind that bodies need to move around and not stay in one position for too long. This easel is intended to be height adjustable, have an arm that can adjust to the user's needs, and has a canvas clamp that can support multiple frame sizes.
